Porcus Marinus is based on a sea monster commonly depicted on renaissance and medieval maps. It was believed that the equivalent of land animals existed in the sea, hence creatures like Porcus Marinus were often depicted on maps.They were a hybrid form, consisting of half land animal and half fish. Here sculpted in a life-like form.
